What is design concrete?
Design concrete is a specialised form of concrete, where the product is engineered to meet specific requirements. For example, strength, durability or aesthetics. It involves the use of additives, aggregates and admixtures to achieve the desired results. It’s often used in construction projects where standard or general concretes can’t meet specific structural or aesthetic demands.
Our range of design concretes are supplied from the ‘Top’ brand of readymix concrete. These materials are specially formulated to deliver improved performance, including self-levelling, free-flowing, fast set, high strength, chemical resistance, low-shrinkage and self-compacting attributes.
We can also supply decorative and coloured ready mix concrete for improved aesthetics.

Types of design concrete
C10
Ideal for projects where strength it’s a primary concern, as C10 has a lower cement content than other mixes.
C15
Similarly to C10, C15 has a lower cement content than other mixes. As such, it’s suitable for projects such as concrete pathways.
C20
C20 has a strength of 20 Newtons at 28 days. It’s commonly used for domestic projects such as house extensions and patio paving.
C25
A versatile mix used for house foundations, drainage and trench filling. C25 is a medium strength concrete, which is still best used for projects where strength isn’t the primary factor.
C30
A medium strength concrete mix ideal for domestic projects such as shed bases, foundations and garages.
C35
C35 is a stronger mix, which is suitable for heavy uses such as agricultural building construction.
C40
Like C35, C40 is often used for projects that require a stronger mix. It can be used for external walls and slabs, farm grain stores and beams for structural support.
C50
C50 is a specialist high strength concrete, specifically designed for use on projects that require durability. This includes commercial, industrial and agricultural projects.
